I've seen this whole movie again this week and this movie is really amazing. In the world of cinematography, some great films have been recorded, but Down Periscope deserves special attention. Pictures and scenography were pampered in the smallest details. David S. Ward showed us the world on the screen from a different perspective. Down Periscope starts very innocently. Cmdr. Tom Dodge is not thought of very highly among his fellow Navy officers, so when he is assigned to helm an outmoded, diesel powered, rusty in a series of wargames, people don't expect much from him. Set on getting his underdog crew in line in order to win the event, Dodge must face off against his nemesis, Adm. Yancy Graham, who will do anything to see Dodge disgraced and finally kicked out of the Navy.
